Problems with MT4 data (Windows 7 & Vista)

In Windows Vista or Windows 7, MT4 saves historical prices only when you run MT4 as an administrator. This is because of the default permissions that Windows now gives to program folders.

There are two solutions:

The simpler, but ultimately more frustrating solution:

• If you encounter the error "Unable to receive live data, please check the DDE Server" many users have found that running MT4 normally (not as an administrator) solves this problem. We suggest you try running MT4 both ways to resolve any live data problems you encounter.

• Add yourself as a user with the necessary permissions to the MT4 folder. Here is a great video explaining exactly how to do that.
