Receiving live MT4 data

To receive the data feed from MetaTrader4, first of you need to set up Metatrader. You can find a detailed video on the subject here.

Once MT4 is set up make sure you remember to check the option "receive Live data after loading" while loading the data, or alternatively check the option Data> Receive Live data from MT4.

Furthermore: MT4 has an odd way of handling permissions. Sometimes it will only save historical data when the software is run as an administrator, but only receive live data when it is run NOT as an administrator. Just in case please try receiving live data while running MT4 both as and not as an administrator. More information on this matter is available here.

Finally check that ST and MT4 agree on the location of the data. Start MT4 and go to File> Open data folder. Take note of the folder which is opened up. Then open ST and add a new MT4 chart to the workspace. In the window that is opened click on "Data directories" in the top left-hand corner of that window. Please make sure that the folder here corresponds to the folder which opened from MT4.
