Why am I being asked to return my licence to the server?

When Sentient Trader is shut down, a window can appear with the following message:

Would you like to return this licence to the server so that it can be used on your other licensed computer?

This indicates that the licence being used has been activated on more than one computer. It is possible to activate the same licence on up to three different computers, however concurrent use is not allowed (it is not permitted to use the same licence on more than one computer at the same time).

After closing down Sentient Trader if you intend to use Sentient Trader again on the same computer we advise you click No.

If after closing down Sentient Trader you intend to use Sentient Trader on a different computer then we advise you click Yes.

N.B. Choosing the wrong option will not negatively affect your licence. It will however cause  delay on startup while Sentient Trader obtains and checks the missing licence and presents the licence transfer popup window.

If the license is not returned to the server and the same licence is accessed from a different computer, a window with the following message will be displayed:

This license is activated to more than one computer, and it is currently being used on another computer [...]. Would you like to transfer your license to this computer? Click on YES to do that now (fair usage policy applies), or NO if you are able to start Sentient Trader on the other computer, and return the license to the server.

It is possible to stop receiving these messages by going to the General tab under Tools> Options and deselecting the option Ask about returning licence when closing.
