Using the Roll-over feature

A new feature has been added to version 4.0.2.61 of Sentient Trader: Roll-overs. To use this feature please follow these instructions:

  • It is possible to define a rollover ahead of the date it's due to occur (so that you are not scrambling on the date of the rollover to define all the new symbols).
  • With a chart of the instrument that will need to be rolled over open in ST, click on the menu Data>Define Rollovers.
  • In the box that pops up, select the date on which you want ST to rollover to the new contract.
  • In the New Symbol box enter the new symbol (as it will appear in your data source - for this reason ST displays the current symbol in the Old Symbol box so that you can be sure the symbology is correct).
  • Click the Add button.
  • The new rollover will be displayed. Click on it and you can confirm the new symbol for that date.
  • If there is an error, select the date in the box and click on the Delete Selected button.
  • Once everything looks correct,  check the "Add to all charts in workspace" if all the charts in the workspace are for this same instrument (this is a good reason to keep all the charts in a workspace to a single instrument).
  • Alternatively you can check the "Add to all charts in ALL workspaces" setting if you have multiple workspaces open for this same instrument (make sure all open workspaces are for this instrument!).
  • Before the date of the rollover make sure that the data for the new instrument is available (and historical data is loaded). This process will depend upon your data source.
